Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager is responsible for providing leadership and support for the development and implementation of sound fiscal management policies and procedures across all organizational departments, programs, and grants.
In addition, the position is responsible for overseeing organizational systems for gathering data, analyzing information, confirming the accuracy of their staff’s reports and providing recommendations for improving accounting methods.
The Accounting Manager will oversee and coordinate financial activities, and financial reporting for the Director of Finance, Executive Management, Affiliate Reporting and external funding sources.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities:
Supervises the accounts receivable and accounts payable staff.
Assist with the implementation of the organization’s annual budget process, including, data collection and analytics, compilation, and summary for management review.
Spearheads the annual single audit & financial audit process and prepares audit support documentation, and coordinates correspondence with external auditor.
Managing the company’s financial accounts, payroll, budget, cash receipts and financial assets
Oversees grant monitoring and grant site visits and prepares support documentation and coordinates correspondence with grant auditors.
Directs monthly-close process and ensures reports are submitted in timely manner & conducts monthly Affiliate-drill down meeting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Accounting, Finance, or in a job related field of study
Must have 3–5 years of work related experience
Must have sound understanding of fund accounting in Not-for Profit environment and generally accepted accounting principles.
Must understand the organization’s financial operations and how they work together, including, grants, budget analysis, cash forecasting, payroll, and revenue analysis.
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the public
Must possess knowledge of automated accounting systems, General Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and Governmental Single Audit Standards
