Job Description
Responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership, and management to ensure the organization has proper application of evidence-based and safe clinical practices, the effective measurement of clinical outcomes, clinical performance improvement initiatives, and the highest quality patient experience with fiscal accountability.
Essential Functions
Clinical Responsibilities:
Responsible for all medical services provided by physicians and mid-level staff to ensure that appropriate quality medical care is consistently delivered throughout the organization and take corrective action as needed if standards of care and efficiency are not met.
Responsible for all clinician productivity, quality metrics, and provider satisfaction scores.
Oversight and accountability for all patient safety initiatives and outcomes.
Develop, cooperate, and participate in quality improvement/quality assessment, utilization control and peer review procedures.
Continually work to improve the quality of and maintaining a reasonable cost for the medical care rendered to patients by staff physicians, outside specialists to whom the organization refers patients, and other ancillary staff.
Coordinate, maintain, expand, and evaluate client medical referral system.
Establish, maintain, and update all standard medical treatment protocols and collaborate on pharmaceutical formularies.
Responsible for supporting and working with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure a smooth coordination of all daily clinic activities to optimize the delivery of quality medical care efficiently.
Responsible for the implementation of the Patient Centered Medical Home project with the understanding that this is an essential part of the competitive strategy and an integral part of the job of every health care provider
Coordinate with the Executive Team to identify the benchmarks and necessary metrics to ensure that the organization is a leading provider of health care.
Direct and organize, the after-hours on-call program, triaging calls, consulting with nurses and nurse practitioners and ensure appropriate documentation of all client contacts.
Serves as custodian of medical records and shall maintain all patient information and records in strict confidence and maintain confidentiality of all patient information pursuant to standard policy on confidentiality.
Leadership And Managerial Responsibilities
Hire, manage, evaluate and when necessary terminate physicians and mid-level providers
Responsible for the oversight of Associate Chiefs of Clinical Services, all Medical Directors, VP of Nursing, and evaluation of their job performance.
With the Executive Director (ED), Chief of Population Health, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and COO, establish and monitor productivity (including billing and coding) of all providers and take corrective action as necessary.
With the ED, Chief of Population Health, and CFO, establish and execute the revenue and expense budgets for all clinical areas.
Prepare and attend to on a timely basis, in connection with such services, all reports, and correspondence necessary or appropriate in the circumstances, all of which records, reports, and correspondence shall belong to the organization
Complete annually at least the number of hours of continuing medical education required by the state board, which sets continuing medical education standards. Perform all things reasonably necessary to maintain his/her professional skills.
Ensure that all providers have at least the required minimum continuing education units necessary to maintain their licensure and certifications. Coordinate provider in-house learning sessions and provider presentations.
In conjunction with the COO, direct ongoing evaluations of services and staff to identify problematic areas and consult with staff members to correct those problems.
Shall support the mission and strategic plan and the decisions made by the board of directors and the management staff.
Work with Executive and Senior Management to successfully develop and execute the Strategic Plan.
Attend the monthly meeting of the Board of Directors and participate in Board and leadership activities as requested. Serve as staff support to various committees of the Board.
Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention, including FHC-required voluntary family planning services and related preventative health services in compliance with funding requirements and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
Community Responsibilities:
Work with staff to address emerging health needs of the community.
Represent Legacy at local, state and national meetings. This may include but not be limited to serving on boards and commissions, taking leadership roles in professional organizations and presenting at conferences as budgets allow.
Attend and participate in meetings of senior leadership team and other meetings as directed by Chief of Population Health/ED.
Interact professionally with the electronic and print media when required.
Attend Legacy produced fundraisers and events.
Be available for and participate in tours, meetings, and presentations to Legacy’s donors and supporters.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Training Experience Requirements
MD/DO
Must be a licensed physician who has a specialty in and practiced Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or OB/GYN.
Provider shall obtain, maintain, and participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, workers’ compensation, other federal and state reimbursement programs, and the payment plan of any commercial payors, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, and other health benefit program requested
Work Experience Requirements
Experience working in a FQHC and/or working with underserved population, a plus.
Must have a minimum of 10 years post residency experience.
Ability to meet EPIC proficiency requirements
