Business/Function Overview :
The Golf Market Manager is responsible and accountable for the conceptualization, planning, and implementation of effective, customer focused, and commercially accepted Strategic Marketing Plans providing short term (0-3 years) strategy for the professional golf market segment. The Marketing Plans include all aspects relating to fungicide products, pricing, positioning, promotion, project, and portfolio management. Additionally, this role will lead the assigned segment teams and provide the overall direction and leadership in support of the “go to market” strategy for the product portfolio.
Ability to execute both ‘pull’ strategy to golf course superintendents and ‘push’ strategy with key distributor partners. This role is instrumental in achieving the business segment targets within budgeted expenses and thus contributes significantly to the overall success of the Professional Solutions business and the achievement of its financial goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Responsible and accountable to define, develop and implement the short term (0-3 years) marketing plans for assigned products. Participate in the development of and ensure alignment with long term (3-5 yr) marketing plans to achieve financial targets. Development and implementation of communication and overall activation plans (internal and external) for assigned products.
Lead the development of product line communications into the golf market such as external strategy and execution, coordination with agency partners, product line collateral, internal communications & newsletters/training materials for all assigned product brands. Ensure due process review prior to all program implementation.
Lead competitor analysis, demand modeling, pricing studies, review of market research information and tracking key and end user segments. Define the marketplace and assure segment/product line plans can meet sales targets. Validate the market research and actively seek input through the interaction/needs assessment with distributor and end user customers.
Lead assigned project teams and actively participate to develop and implement “go to market” channel specific strategies and customer driven initiatives leveraging effective interaction with all relevant business functions including sales, regulatory, development, supply chain etc.
Provide value proposition, product positioning, market and financial assumptions for assigned products and projects. Lead assigned product/project launch teams across business and functional groups to execute product launches on time and on budget.
Development of accurate product forecasts with effective coordination with Business Planning, Demand Managers, Sales and Key Account Management with emphasis on production and sales volumes.
Active participation and point person for assigned products in Business Sales & Operations Planning activities: Forecasting, Demand Planning, Supply and Operation planning.
Ensure products are being recommended in accordance with regulatory & safety guidelines.
Facilitate and actively participate in business development discussions for the identification of internal and external growth opportunities providing financial and strategic planning.
Required Education:
BA/BS with 5 + years’ experience or MBA with experience in Business, Marketing, Biology or related field.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of marketing and or relevant experience.
Working knowledge of product launch processes.
Understanding of product positioning and segmentation
Understanding of product development processes preferred
Understanding of regulatory processes and time-lines preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the golf market
Good decision quality with a strong ability to balance issues and reach an appropriate decision using of sound judgment.
Working knowledge of financial information and analyses related to Gross Margin, NPV, and EBIT
Effective written and oral communication skills with emphasis on presentation skills for product launches, product positioning and sales force training.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions in a changing and challenging environment
Ability to thrive and effectively operate in a highly dynamic and informal environment
