GSS Business Function Overview
Global Specialty Solutions (GSS) is a business unit that sits within the orporation. The GSS North America Sales Manager for T&O reports into the Professional Solutions Commercial Director and is responsible for the success and growth of our Turf & Ornamental (T&O) business. A focus on employee development and creating a collaborative environment for your team coupled with strategic decisions, leadership and customer centricity will shape the future of the GSS T&O business. In this role you will be managing a team of Market Specialists and accountable to the delivery of the T&O function’s P&L. Role Responsibilities:
P&L Accountability:
As the leader of the T&O business you understand that your annual financial targets need to be met. As obstacles are thrown in your path it is your responsibility to overcome these and deliver. Full accountability on meeting or exceeding the T&O segment’s annual financial targets is critical for this role. As the financial year progresses you will also need to actively manage your team’s T&E budget, and align and collaborate with our finance business partner to deliver transparent and accurate financials
Partnering:
Partnering closely with the GSS Marketing group, engaging with the Product Development team, and partnering with Key Account Managers (KAM) is crucial in this role. All three groups will enable the success of your business and help deliver outstanding results to your customers. All three partners will benefit from a regular cross functional T&O segment meeting run by you which provides insight into emerging opportunities
Alongside Marketing you will align to determine business strategy, messaging, and market positioning of your portfolio and products. As the T&O business leader it is your responsibility to ensure cross functional communication between marketing and the T&O sales team to drive full awareness and enhance your team’s knowledge base to enable their success. You will also partner closely with Marketing to identify portfolio gaps and opportunities.
In conjunction with Product Development, you will need to ensure continuous alignment on project progression and decision making based on research data and changing market needs. You will need to actively engage on pipeline and new product concepts via the annual research project development and submission process to drive growth in the T&O segment
Strategy & Customer Centricity:
With a great strategy already developed, you will lead the execution and the identification of new opportunities for growth and improvement in all areas. You will work closely with your team and support them in their respective territories, visiting customers as well as distribution partners and the development of their key account plans. You will collaborate closely with KAMs to ensure alignment from key distribution partners and ensure each account is receiving the appropriate level of attention for customer satisfaction and successful strategy execution.
People Management:
Manage a team of Market Specialist to accomplish key objectives not limited to:
Compliance on administrative duties, such as the completion of internal trainings, expense reports, and ad hoc HR documents
All monthly reports are reviewed by you and submitted to the leadership on time
Adherence to corporate safety standards and compliance with ethics requirements
Annual goals development and feedback on progress towards goals
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Weed Science, Crop Science, or business administration
Minimum 10 years applicable business-related work experience required
MBA preferred
