The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides vision, leadership, engagement and organizational direction and management its clinical service programs, departments, and functions. This position ensures strategies within areas of accountability are in alignment with the ASL Strategic Plan and imperatives. The COO is engaged in and accountable for leadership and management of the functions assigned under the direction of the President, and acts as a surrogate leader in the absence of the President.

Hours: Monday - Friday, must be available for occasional early and late meetings.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Management, Business Administration, or other related healthcare field.

  • A minimum of ten years of assigned responsibility for clinical departments, as well as familiarity with program management, clinical outreach, quality, and process improvement is ideal.

  • Knowledge of current trends in Ambulatory Care management; knowledge of principles and methods of administration, leadership, and management; demonstrated skill in verbal and written communications; knowledge of generally accepted personnel practices; current legal parameters of Ambulatory Care practice; knowledge of budgeting and financial accountability; ability to plan and organize appropriate activities of Ambulatory Care, evaluate outcomes and assure quality through implementation of identified changes needed; ability to facilitate groups specified goals; ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with appropriate Hospital, Ambulatory Care and medical staff.

  • Ability to work independently, organize and manage multiple tasks/priorities and meet deadlines. Knowledge of Ambulatory Care scheduling, registration, reimbursement, billing, and documentation. Proficiency with PCs, Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, teaching ability and problem-solving skills. Professionally motivated. This position requires occasional travel, which may include overnights and weekends, sufficient to handle the responsibilities of the position.
