Lead a customer-oriented team of Application Directors, Managers in the creation and vision of a roadmap that provides direction and alignment of priorities with the short-term and long-term objectives of the department and organization.
Our consultants are seeking an accomplished and visionary Executive Director of Enterprise Applications. Reporting the Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, the Executive Director will be responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and optimization of all clinical and business applications.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of healthcare industry trends, possess strong technical expertise, and a proven track record of driving successful application initiatives in a complex healthcare environment. The candidate will lead a large customer focused team and partner with application service providers to ensure that the application portfolio supports the evolving clinical and business requirements of the organization.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. (Required)
Master's Degree Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. (Preferred)
Minimum Work Experience
10 years A minimum of 10 years of experience in application management (Required)
5 years 5 years in a leadership role within a healthcare IT environment. (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
In-depth understanding of healthcare industry dynamics, clinical workflows, research, regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH), healthcare software applications (e.g., EHR, revenue cycle management, population health), and integration standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
Strong technical background with experience in application development, integration, and deployment, including familiarity with programming languages, databases, and application development frameworks.
Proven ability to think strategically and translate organizational goals into actionable plans and initiatives.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, foster a culture of innovation, and drive high performance.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, influence decision-making, and build strong relationships.
Experience leading change management initiatives, including the ability to communicate change effectively, manage resistance, and facilitate user adoption.
Demonstrated ability to drive results from outsourced service vendors.
Strong commitment to staying up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in healthcare IT.

Functional Accountabilities
Job Duties
Develop and execute the strategic vision for all applications, aligning capabilities with organizational goals and objectives.
Collaborate with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, clinical staff, research, IS teams, and external partners, to define application requirements, prioritize initiatives, and ensure successful deployment and adoption.
Manage relationships with application vendors, monitor service-level agreements, and ensure vendor performance meets expectations.
Participate in the governance process for outsourced service vendors, holding vendors accountable to contract agreements and keeping alignment with strategic vision.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, department heads, research, and subject-matter experts, to align application functionality and workflows to meet the needs of the clinical and business priorities.
Establish and enforce technical architecture standards, ensuring application compatibility, scalability, and interoperability, while adhering to industry best practices and security standards.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in healthcare IT, identifying opportunities to leverage innovative solutions to drive operational efficiency, patient care, and organizational growth.
Participate in the development of change management strategies to facilitate the successful adoption and utilization of applications across the organization, ensuring minimal disruption and maximizing user acceptance.
Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for applications, regularly assessing performance, availability, and user satisfaction and implementing optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Collaborate with the Chief Information Officer to develop and manage the application budget, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and cost-effective delivery of applications.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of application managers and analysts, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
